Spirit of rugby shines through at Festival Finale

14 April 2010

Lichfield RFC played host to the last ever RFUW Regional Youth Festival on April 10 and 11 with 650 girls, aged between 12 and 18, taking part.

English regional teams and invitational side and regional Welsh winners Llanelli Scarlets played some exciting rugby with the focus of the festival being on individual player development.

In the Under 15s competition Midlands East were victors in the Cup competition with a hard fought 10-5 win over Thames Valley who enjoyed their best tournament result.

In the Under 18s tournament Thames Valley claimed their first ever piece of silverware with a 7-5 victory in the Bowl final, while West Midlands lifted the Plate trophy after a 19-5 victory over Llanelli Scarlets. The Cup final was between the South and the East, and in the end they had to share the honours with both sides failing to break each other’s line.
